Ourika

Ourika is gentler and greener. You follow the river up the valley, walk to a series of small waterfalls, and stop at riverside cafes where tables sit right in the water. In summer, Ourika is the smart pick because the valley and its river are noticeably cooler and you avoid a long hot drive. Ouzoud is best in spring and autumn when the falls are full and the walk down is comfortable. Both get busy at weekends with local visitors, so a weekday trip is calmer. If escaping the heat is the goal, Ourika edges it. If you want the single most impressive sight, Ouzoud is worth the extra hours in the car.

Choose Ouzoud for the waterfall spectacle, the boat ride and the monkeys, and accept the longer drive. Choose Ourika for a cool, close, easy valley day, especially in summer. If you have two free days you can do both, but for a single day let the weather and your appetite for driving decide.
